It has been an exciting week at Sembach Elementary! Our students returned on Tuesday after a five-day break refreshed and ready to learn.
Before sharing highlights, we would like to remind families about the DoDEA Stakeholder Feedback Survey. The survey link was sent directly from DoDEA beginning January 28. Each family receives a unique survey link. If you have not seen the email, please check your spam or junk folder, as we are hearing that in some cases the message may have been filtered there. Your feedback is incredibly important and helps guide decisions at both the district and school level. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
During the break, our teachers participated in College and Career Ready Standards professional learning. They focused on effective and efficient ways to record student progress, dug deeper into science standards, and explored additional strategies to help students monitor their own learning through the use of rubrics. We are proud of the intentional work our staff continues to do to support student growth.
Here are a few highlights and important updates:
| Read-A-Thon (Now through March 6) Our PTO has kicked off the Read-A-Thon fundraiser, which runs through March 6. Our PTO does so much to support our school community, and we are incredibly grateful for their efforts. We hope you will consider participating and supporting this fun and meaningful initiative. |
Anchored4Life Blanket & Quilt Drive This week, our Anchored4Life students launched a blanket and quilt donation drive to support patients during medical transports. Students are highly motivated, especially with a friendly competition underway between neighborhoods to see which group can collect the most donations. If you have gently used or still-usable blankets or quilts, please consider sending them in. Your generosity can make a real difference for someone in need. |
Sembach NEHS Book Drive – Sharing Stories Across Borders! Our National Elementary Honor Society members are kicking off a Book Drive with Heart! They’re collecting gently‑used English children’s books to share the joy of reading with kids in local German kindergartens and schools. Have books your family has outgrown? This is the perfect chance to give them a second life. Every donated book becomes a new adventure for a young reader—and helps build connections between our Sembach community and our German neighbors. What we’re collecting: ✔️ English books for young readers ✔️ Used but still in good condition ✔️ Picture books, early readers, chapter books Let’s fill those shelves and spread some smiles. Thank you for helping our NEHS students make a difference—one book at a time! |

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – February 27 at 1:00 PM Next Friday, February 27 at 1:00 PM, our students will celebrate the official opening of our new building with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Due to limited seating capacity, we kindly ask that any parents who are interested in attending complete the RSVP form linked on our school website. RSVPs will remain open through the end of the day on Tuesday, February 24. After the RSVP window closes, we will review submissions and notify families to confirm whether we are able to accommodate their attendance. We truly wish we could host everyone and appreciate your understanding as we work within our space limitations. |
