In light of the President’s recent Executive Orders titled "Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government" and “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling,” DoDEA is conducting an operational compliance review to ensure alignment with the Executive Orders.

Jan 21, 2025 21 January Welcome to 3rd Quarter, TIGERS!! As we begin the 3rd quarter and 2nd semester of our school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress and growth our students have made so far this year. We’ve had multiple singing events, after school clubs are up and running, students consistently show progress in the classroom and in assessments they complete to track their academic growth, the PTO has provided various opportunities for fun, and we’ve been lucky to enjoy a little bit of snow during our recess times recently! Not too much, but just enough!! On that note, PLEASE be sure your children are coming to school dressed according to the weather. Even when temperatures are cold, we will go outside for recess to release some energy and get some fresh air. Please be sure they are wearing an appropriate winter coat, gloves, hats, and scarves, etc.

Jennifer Rauchet Hegseth, spouse of the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, was joined by Angela Abernathy, spouse of Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Abernathy, U.S. European Command senior enlisted leader, and Amy Fulford, spouse of Lt. Gen. Robert Fulford, deputy commander of U.S. European Command on a tour of three DoDEA schools in Europe: Patch Elementary, Brussels Unit School, and SHAPE Elementary. They were accompanied by DoDEA Director Dr. Beth Schiavino-Narvaez and DoDEA Europe Director for Student Excellence Dr. Michelle Howard-Brahaney.

“If we went on a road trip, she would plan it, and I would decorate it,” Jessica Mitchell said, throwing her head back in laughter with her sister, Caletha Ellis. Mitchell, Alconbury Middle High School’s fine arts teacher and DoDEA Europe West District’s 2022 Teacher of the Year, reflected on the roles she and Ellis have played throughout their lives. “That’s the way it has always been,” Mitchell said, glancing at Ellis seated next to her. “She has always been such an inspiration to the whole family.”
